Welcome to Sara Hopkins Psychotherapy
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but it can also be the catalyst for meaningful change.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people seek therapy to deepen their self-awareness, improve their relationships, build new skills, or explore personal growth and fulfillment. For others, therapy may be focused on navigating a specific issue such as managing a life transition, working through difficult emotions, or addressing challenges in relationships.
Whether you're seeking support for a particular concern or simply feeling stuck and unsure where to begin, therapy can provide a space to reflect, grow, and move forward.
Therapy can be started at any point in your life! What matters most is finding a therapist who feels like the right fit and choosing an approach that aligns with your needs and goals.
My Approach to Therapy
Therapy can be a powerful space for reflection, growth, and building the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges. Whether you're looking to better understand yourself, improve emotional regulation, or move through a period of transition, my role is to guide you through it.
My approach is collaborative and forward-focused, with an emphasis on helping you create meaningful and sustainable change. While our work may involve processing past experiences and emotions, the focus is often on helping you build insight, develop skills, and move toward your goals.
My areas of focus include:
Building resilience and coping skills
Exploring and strengthening emotional intelligence
Managing stress and preventing or recovering from burnout
Navigating difficult conversations and improving communication
Managing life transitions, such as career shifts, relationship loss, and identity changes
Emotional regulation
I take an integrative approach and tailor each session to your unique needs and preferences. Some of the evidence-based modalities I draw from include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to support values-based action and psychological flexibility
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) – to help clarify goals and move toward change
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – to examine and shift unhelpful thought patterns
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) – to build emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness
Above all, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make the changes that are most meaningful to you.
About Me
My career began in internal human resources and has since evolved into a dual career path: supporting businesses through people management consulting and working with individuals through psychotherapy.
During my time in HR, I was especially drawn to areas that focused on people — including employee wellbeing, leadership development, and professional growth. Over time, this interest deepened and led me to pursue psychotherapy, where I could work one-on-one with individuals to support their personal growth and help them navigate life’s challenges.
If you’re considering starting therapy, I encourage you to schedule a free intake consultation with me to discuss your therapeutic goals, and determine how I can support you.
